Virtual Advising Support for Students Available
One silver lining from the past 18 months is our ability to meet students where they are by offering three modalities for virtual advising support (virtual lobby, chat and email). We also know our ability to offer virtual services helps students save time and transportation costs. As we continue to develop a robust advising support network for students, it is important that we create a balance of on-campus/in-person and virtual services. Equally important is the need to create an equitable and balanced operational plan for our advisors and counselors. As students return to our campuses this fall, we will be tracking the number of students who seek face-to-face and virtual services. We will also be assessing students’ level of satisfaction with the various modalities of service.
Feedback and recommendations from advising teams are being gathered with the goal of developing a designated Remote Advising Team, who will serve students in virtual lobby, chat and email. If you have any feedback or questions, please contact Wende Ruffin-Lowry, coordinator of virtual student supports (gruffinlowry@nvcc.edu).
