What’s New in Parking for Fall 2021?
If you’re wondering what’s new in Parking for fall 2021, here’s a round-up of updates and changes.
New Virtual Permits
Parking Services has transitioned to virtual permits for all students, employees and contractors. This means you don’t need to display a physical permit on your vehicle. Your license plate is your Parking Permit!
Under the new virtual system, the permit holder’s license plate acts as the permit. No more forgetting to hang your tag; no more waiting for your permit to arrive in the mail; and no need to replace or transfer permits!
Virtual permits are ordered online and valid immediately for your registered vehicle license plates. Since each vehicle’s license plate is used as the parking permit, license plates must be accurately registered to avoid being issued a citation. Errors in license plate registration are the responsibility of the customer. Up to three vehicles can be linked to each permit. However, only one vehicle can park on College property at any given time. If more than one vehicle is found at the College without the purchase of an additional permit, both vehicles may receive a citation.
For additional information, please visit the NOVA Virtual Permit FAQ.
Important Note: To promote the new virtual permits, 150 students who purchase a Fall 2021 Student Permit, chosen at random, will receive $100 on their NOVACard! Please be on the lookout for additional details in the near future.
New Hourly Parking Changes
The Loudoun, Manassas and Woodbridge campuses have removed the single-space meter systems used for hourly parking. Modern hourly parking pay stations are now available for students and visitors choosing to pay hourly.
The hourly pay stations utilize a Pay-by-Plate system. You must enter your license plate number at the pay station to submit payment so please be sure to take note of your plate number. Also, check out NOVA’s hourly mobile pay option through Passport Mobile Pay as a convenient alternative. We now offer additional hourly bundles which can be found below.
For details on how to use the Pay Stations, please take a look at our How-To Guide.
Important Note: The pay stations at the Alexandria and Annandale campuses are also utilizing the pay-by-plate system and are no longer accepting bills. The Medical Education Campus pay stations are still using the pay-by-space system.
Passport Parking – New Hourly Bundle Options
Parking Services added two new hourly bundle options for the Passport Parking mobile app during the spring 2020 semester to create more flexibility for those who do not need to park on campus as frequently. The new bundle options will remain in place moving forward! Please see the chart below for more detailed information:
