LO Campus Seeks Interim LASS Dean. Express Interest by August 16
NOVA is seeking an interim LASS dean to serve the Loudoun Campus while the dean is on leave, from approximately August 23, 2021 to at least October 31, 2021.
The interim dean must hold at least a master’s degree in a teaching field within the languages, arts, and social sciences disciplines from a regionally-accredited institution. Because the interim position may also encompass interim leadership for the Social Sciences Pathway Council (depending on the credential), letters of interest from internal candidates with at least a master’s in a social science teaching discipline are encouraged. In addition, the interim dean must have at least two years of administrative responsibility, including responsibility for program oversight, personnel supervision and budget management.
For the period of this appointment, the interim dean must commit to working at the Loudoun Campus and maintaining an active and visible presence throughout that campus and community. The interim dean will serve as a member of the Academic Deans Council with all associated responsibilities and will report to the Loudoun provost. Acting pay, in accordance with VCCS policy, will be provided for the duration of this appointment.
NOVA employees who meet these qualifications, understand the requirements and wish to be considered for the role of Interim LASS and pathway dean should submit a one-page letter of interest to Elizabeth Hamrick in the Loudoun Provost Office no later than Monday, August 16 at 5 p.m. The interim dean will be selected and appointed by the Loudoun provost from the pool of qualified individuals expressing interest.
Please Note: The interim dean position is anticipated to be a temporary replacement.
