College Readiness Counselors Added to Office of Recruitment and Admissions

August 19, 2021 / General NOVA News

NOVA is excited to add College Readiness Counselors (formerly Pathways to the Baccalaureate) to the office of Recruitment and Admissions. Under the leadership of College Dean Debbie Wyne and Associate Director for College Readiness, Susan Nieves-Campos, College Readiness Counselors provide general academic, career and financial aid counseling to prospective students in targeted service areas throughout Northern Virginia.

In alignment with NOVA’s STRATEGIC PLAN 2017-2023: PATHWAY TO THE AMERICAN DREAM, NOVA’s College Readiness Counselors help provide prospective students and their families with equitable access to NOVA. College Readiness services include hands-on assistance with the admissions, direct enrollment and financial aid processes in an effort to make the transition to NOVA as seamless as possible for all students. As trained counselors, our College Readiness Counselors act as advocates for all students interested in attending NOVA and specialize in working with minoritized students, DREAMers, students with special abilities and economically disadvantaged families.

NOVA’s commitment towards helping every student succeed begins with the work done by our high school outreach teams. In addition, the Office of Recruitment and Admissions works closely with campus leadership and high school partners in identifying targeted schools.
