Develop New Skills as Blended/Hybrid Educators

August 19, 2021 / Tech Notes & Training

A blended or hybrid course is a thoughtful integration of in-person and online environments, with flexibility in consideration of when and where, towards a goal of student-centered and active learning pedagogies. Hybrid learning takes different forms to better meet students’ needs and achieve student learning outcomes. In a recent research-based report collaborated by the National Research Center for Distance Education and Technological Advancement, the Online Learning Consortium, and Every Learner Everywhere, a group of educational researchers and practitioners state that hybrid learning is the future of postsecondary education because of its inherent flexibility and its focus on integrating the most effective practices from the face-to-face and online modalities.

Many of you may have experienced the benefits of teaching hybrid courses. Whether you plan to blend your hybrid courses regularly as in-person and online or blend your hybrid courses through scheduled synchronous meetings and asynchronous online learning, we can help you develop new skills in designing and teaching hybrid courses!

Three sessions of Hybrid Certification Course will be offered for NOVA faculty in the fall:

Hybrid Certification Course (Session 1): August 30 – September 26
Hybrid Certification Course (Session 2): October 4 – October 31
Hybrid Certification Course (Session 3): November 1 – December 5
