COVID-19 Weekly Testing Procedures

September 7, 2021 / Uncategorized

Beginning the week of September 7, employees who are not fully vaccinated should follow the steps below to ensure compliance with NOVA’s testing procedures. Employees will be required to test weekly and submit the COVID-19 Testing Attestation by 8 a.m. each Monday (beginning September 13, 2021).

  1. Regardless of your work location, employees may pick up a NOVA issued COVID-19 rapid test kit (self-administered) at any of the six campus Business Office locations, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. Test kits will be available beginning Tuesday, September 7, 2021.

Test kits are also available by appointment at the Office of Human Resources (Pender 2), Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. at 3926 Pender Drive, Suite 150, Fairfax. Please email shadi@nvcc.edu to schedule a time to pick up the test kit.

The weekly COVID-19 test is available at no cost to the employee.

  2. Self-administer the COVID-19 rapid test each week. You are permitted to administer the test during work hours at a time approved by your supervisor. Time spent by non-exempt employees actually conducting the test and reporting the result should be counted as worked hours.
  3. Log in to the COVID-19 Employee Vaccination and Testing Status portal to submit the COVID-19 Testing Attestation.

When you become fully vaccinated, upload your vaccination card to the portal. This ensures compliance with the Governor’s Executive Directive #18 (2021).

Teleworkers (100% Remote)
Employees who are working 100% remotely are required to disclose their vaccination status, and they will need to undergo COVID-19 testing to access NOVA campuses or perform public-facing duties. Therefore, it is important to note when testing requirements apply to teleworkers.

  1. Teleworkers who have documented that they are fully vaccinated may access the worksite and/or perform public-facing duties as needed without being tested.
  2. Teleworkers who are not fully vaccinated will be subject to testing prior to any admission to the worksite or to the assignment of public-facing duties. Such testing should occur at least 24 hours in advance but not more than 7 days prior to access to the worksite or public contact. Negative test results must be documented and reported prior to this access.

Work-study Students, Volunteers and Interns
Work-study students, volunteers and interns are required to disclose their vaccination status and submit to weekly testing if they are not fully vaccinated; however, they must submit the COVID-19 Employee Vaccination Status Form via email to HRAdmin@nvcc.edu.
