New Accessibility Feature in Canvas – ReadSpeaker

September 24, 2021 / Tech Notes & Training

ReadSpeaker is an integration in Canvas that allows for text to speech reading on all native text in Canvas, including the ability to read text on Canvas Quizzes using Respondus Lockdown Browser. ReadSpeaker’s many features include:

  • Online content instantly converted to audio with ReadSpeaker webReader’s lifelike synthetic speech
  • Integrated reading and translation tools
  • Just one click, and the text on a page is simultaneously read aloud and highlighted so users can easily follow along, regardless of device used
  • As the text is read, the page will scroll down automatically
  • Select any text on a page and a pop-up menu appears with the Listen, Translation, and Dictionary features
  • A cloud-based (SaaS) speech solution means no downloads necessary
  • Multiple languages supported and translated

Read the ReadSpeaker Resource Guide to learn more about how to use ReadSpeaker inside Canvas.
