Gilman Scholarship Application Deadline Is Oct. 5
As we continue to serve students who are interested in studying or interning abroad, the U.S. Department of State’s Gilman Scholarship provides awards of up to $5,000 for American undergraduate students to study or intern abroad. NOVA has had three students awarded Gilman scholarships in the past year! That is impressive! Read the stories of NOVA Students, Jose Alvarez and Judith Obregon and Leonardo Villavicencio! All received the 2021 Benjamin Gilman International Scholarship!
This scholarship is open to eligible students enrolled at NOVA who receive the Federal Pell Grant. Additionally, if you are working with students who are the child dependents of active duty service members, they may be eligible for an additional $5,000 scholarship through the U.S. Department of State’s Gilman-McCain Scholarship. The application deadline is Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time. If you are currently working with any eligible students, please inform them of this scholarship opportunity.
The Gilman Scholarship targets students who have been historically underrepresented in study abroad opportunities, including but not limited to first-generation college students, students in STEM fields, ethnic minority students, students with disabilities, students attending HBCUs or other minority-serving institutions and students attending community colleges.
The U.S. Department of State’s Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program enables students of limited financial means to study or intern abroad.
