The ALIVE! Mental Health Fair is a fun, interactive, and educational event where students learn about different aspects of mental health, suicide prevention, and have the opportunity to win free prizes. Bristlebots & Books (in-person only)

Manassas Campus, Fabrication Lab in the Trailside Building (register in advance)
Join the NOVA Fab Lab for a morning of bristlebots construction and a live reading of This is What an Engineer Looks Like by 17-year old Congressional Gold Medal recipient Ayonnah Tinsley. After building their own motorized bristlebot and Ms. Tinsley’s reading, participants will learn about STEAM careers and engineering, and have the option to tour the Fabrication Lab. World Mental Health Day
Sunday, October 10
Originally started in 1992 by the World Federation for Mental Health, World Mental Health Day “celebrates awareness for the global community in an empathetic way, with a unifying voice, helping people feel hopeful by empowering them to take action and create lasting change.” For more information: visit the World Federation for Mental Health.
Two other quick notes:
- The Annandale Campus Library is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with a display just outside the library doors in the CG Building (third floor) through October 15th. You can also find resources about Hispanic Heritage Month online through the library.
- The recording of September’s Inaugural Spotlight Event, featuring award-winning poet, novelist and professor Javier Avila, is available for viewing for all NOVA faculty, staff and students. Visit the the September Spotlight page on the DEI Site to watch it and for more information about the event.
