Ace Turns Five! And a Call for Haiku

Since I have both the SACSCOC town hall and the October office hour Zooms this week, I have a chance to focus today’s topic on two requests.

Request 1: You may not know that it is the fifth birthday of our wonderful NOVA Nighthawk, Ace. In honor of this milestone, the NOVA Foundation is asking all of us to give Ace a high five—five dollars, that is. All funds raised from this birthday celebration will go to NOVA students facing emergency needs. I hope you will consider giving $5 to help our students. And to help get this birthday party started, my family will match the first 100 $5 gifts given this week. You can donate here.

Request 2: Actually, this request came to me. I’ve had a request to run another haiku contest, and I’m happy to oblige. The theme for the poems this time is fall. Please send your entry to me at PresidentsOffice@nvcc.edu by October 29. I’ll draw three names from among the entrants, and each will win an appropriately seasonal prize. I’ll also compile and post all poems in the Daily Flyer.
