Today’s the Day! Join NPR’s Gene Demby at 3 p.m.
The Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and the Manassas Campus are excited to welcome award-winning journalist and celebrated NPR podcast host Gene Demby to NOVA at 3 p.m. today!
Mr. Demby will be giving remarks about the importance of diversity, with a focus on college life, followed by an open discussion with faculty, staff and students. If you have a question for Mr. Demby, please e-mail it to Ed Aymar at eaymar@nvcc.edu at the Office of DEI.
All NOVA faculty, staff, and students are welcome to attend by registering at the Zoom link for the October DEI Spotlight Event or join an on-campus audience at the Manassas Campus in MH-216. Afterward, from 4:30-5:30, the Manassas social committee is having a pizza party from 4:30-5:30. RSVP here if you would like to attend.
Gene Demby is a correspondent at NPR and has been a co-host of the Code Switch podcast since it launched in 2016. As Code Switch’s lead blogger, he won the 2014 Online News Association award for his commentary on race and identity. In 2020, Code Switch was named Apple’s first-ever podcast of the year. Before coming to NPR, he served as the managing editor for Huffington Post’s BlackVoices, and spent six years in various positions at The New York Times. You can follow him on Twitter at @GeeDee215.
