Make sure you check out the following DEI-related events across NOVA campuses this week:

Monday, October 18
Eid Milad un-Nabi is an Islamic holiday commemorating the birthday of the prophet Muhammad, and is observed October 18-19 (sundown to sundown).

Wednesday, October 20
International Pronouns Day is observed on October 20.  The day began in 2018 and occurs on the third Wednesday of October each year. For more information, visit PronounsDay.org.

Friday, October 22
To close out Hispanic Heritage Month, NOVA students are invited to participate in a Virtual Speech Competition identifying either a Hispanic or Latino leader that inspires them, or discuss three aspects of their Hispanic/Latino culture as part of the “Who I Am” series. Speeches should be submitted in video format at this link, where you can also find more specific about the competition’s requirements. Prizes will be provided and awarded by The Libre Institute.   • October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month, and was recently recognized by the state of Virginia.
