OEM Bi-Weekly Webinars Discontinued

NOVA’s Director of the Office of Emergency Management and Safety, Tom Mayhew, held his final bi-weekly COVID-19 briefing yesterday. After giving a positive report that COVID cases in the region are currently trending downward, he announced that OEMS will discontinue the bi-weekly briefings at this time. Now, we love Tom, but that is good news signaling some hope for a return to normalcy following a global pandemic that stopped things up short.

This doesn’t mean, however, that the OEMS staff is heading for the beach. They will remain hard at work, guarding us against fires, storms and other health risks. The mission of NOVA’s Office of Emergency Management & Safety (OEMS) is to provide guidance, direction and training to the College and its students, faculty, staff and visitors in how to prevent, protect, respond to and recover from all incidents or events. This includes everything from hurricanes and fires to health issues like COVID-19.
