Office of DEI Presents the November Spotlight Event! Nov. 4

October 29, 2021 / Events

The Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, in partnership with the Loudoun Campus, is excited to announce the guest for our November Spotlight Event, 21-year-old indigenous youth leader and climate activist Nina Berglund. Ms. Berglund will give a keynote speech at the Loudoun Campus on Thursday, November 4th, at 1 PM ET in HEC-203.

Ms. Berglund, a member of the Northern Cheyenne and Oglala Nations, was born and grew up in the Twin Cities. She advocates for actions to combat climate change and protect the environment, increased representation of native people in the media, and to raise awareness of murdered and missing Indigenous women. She is a member of the Earth Guardians youth council and co-created the Young Climate Intervenors.

Ms. Berglund’s speech will focus on the importance of Native American and Indigenous Cultures in America, how people can best advocate for social issues, and the importance of combatting climate change and its cultural impact. Her keynote address followed by a discussion with NOVA students, faculty, and staff.

This event will be the final Spotlight Event of 2021. We encourage you to view our other Spotlight Events at the Office of DEI web site:
