Transfer Virginia: Important Passport Update
Last week, the VCCS added the Passport blocks to student Advisement Reports. A number of good questions were raised and, in response, the VCCS provided the following important information:
- All students with a plan effective date that is on or after May 1, 2020 will now see the Passport displayed at the top of their Advisement Report, followed by their active degree plans.
- This placement is due to the back-end set up in SIS needed to allow the Passport to be applied to all careers and their subsequent degree plans. The plan effective date is under review and subject to change as part of future enhancements.
- Only courses enrolled and completed with a ‘C’ or better, on or after May 1, 2020 will fulfill these Passport requirements.
- The date of May 1, 2020 was determined by SCHEV, VCCS and 4-year partners to ensure that courses met general education requirements for all institutions.
- Students who have completed the Passport will share an indicator by way of a ‘Milestone.’ This is applied to their record through an automated process that has been presented to A&R staff. This Milestone should appear on official and unofficial transcripts.
The VCCS Passport Website has been created to house Passport information, including a Frequently Asked Questions repository, technical/functional documentation and links that point to the related policies from SCHEV. Questions and comments can be submitted through the site as well.
In addition to the aforementioned resource, you may also direct questions regarding the Passport to academics@nvcc.edu.
