New Location! Spread Cheer for Our Littlest Nighthawks: Holiday Gift Drive (74 Purchased/44 Remaining)

November 17, 2021 / Our Nighthawks

Many of us remember what it was like to be a college student. The budget was tight and when college students have children to support, it can be stressful! To help relieve some of the stress associated with the holidays, the CCAMPIS Student Parent and Expecting Student Support Program is holding a Gift Drive to make holiday wishes come true for our ‘Junior Nighthawks’ (the children of our students).

Some of our NOVA students who expressed need were asked to provide a link to gifts that would brighten their child’s holiday, and those gifts are now on NOVA’s Amazon wish lists. We received requests for 114 children. Please consider supporting our students who are parents by purchasing a gift from the wish lists below–they will automatically be sent to the student’s preferred campus pick-up location.

If you’d like to sprinkle some holiday cheer and purchase a gift for a Junior Nighthawk, please click on any of the links below. All gifts are $40 or less. Thank you in advance for supporting our student parents.

Please note: When making a purchase, Charlene Wilkins, Kristin Samarov, and Patricia Martin-Mattocks are assisting with this event and their names will be listed on the addresses when the gifts are sent to the campuses for pick up.

Any questions can be directed to Diana Yacob at dyacob@nvcc.edu.

Please note: Alexandria students are picking up gifts on the Annandale Campus and Manassas and Loudoun students are picking up on the Manassas Campus

Here’s what some of our student parents wrote on their gift wish applications:

“Receiving these gifts for our children would be such a miracle for us! Having 5 children, it can be super hard to fulfill their Christmas wishes on our little bit of income we have. This is such a magical program that helps parents like us fulfill those wishes!”

“Receiving this gift for my children is really important because our family had been set back by the pandemic and as the holidays approach, I have been wondering if I could get any of my children holiday gifts this year. For this reason, I say, “THANK YOU” You are Amazing!”

“Receiving these gifts for my children would be important to me, especially my son because unfortunately due to the pandemic and loss of income, we may not be able to afford Christmas this year. This is the only gift my son asked for this year and I would love to be able to make it happen for him.”

“Currently we are in a very hard time, but the kids expect to get some gifts. Thank you for making this happen.”

“Since I started nursing school at NOVA, I couldn’t give them the proper time they needed. I would love to see them smile at least with some gifts. It is nice that you are thinking about us. Thank you so much.”

“This year has been an extremely difficult year for my boys. They have lost both of their grandmothers (maternal and paternal) and it will be the first holiday season without them. These gifts were the presents their grandmothers had planned to purchase for them. It would take some of the load off me to be able to provide them with gifts they really wanted. Thank you for your generosity.”

“I am a single mom of 4 and I got divorced recently. I appreciate you and may God bless.”
