Days of Observance

The Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion invites all NOVA faculty and staff to commemorate the following days of observance:

  • November 28-December 6: Hanukkah. Hanukkah is “the Jewish eight-day, wintertime ‘festival of lights,’ celebrated with a nightly menorah lighting, prayer and food.”
  • December 1: World AIDS Day. Celebrated annually on December 1st and founded in 1988, World AIDS Day is an “opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV, show support for people living with HIV, and commemorate those who have died from an AIDS-related illness.”
  • December 3: International Day of Persons with Disabilities. IDWPD is a United Nations-sanctioned day celebrated internationally on December 3rd. The Day aims to “promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights, and well-being of persons with disabilities.”
