December 3, 2021 / Faculty/Staff Highlights

After a lengthy search for a new Campus and Community Outreach Coordinator, Dr. Pamela Hilbert, provost of the Annandale Campus has announced that Matthew “Tank” McCarl will move into this role.

Tank has worked for NOVA for the past 15 years in the Offices of Student Life at the Annandale and Woodbridge campuses, and he has worked closely with faculty and staff across NOVA’s six campuses to develop meaningful programs and supports for students and to create relationship-building opportunities for the college community in general.  Tank is known for his good work with student ambassadors and for his strengths in team-building. He has served on the state-wide planning team for the VCCS Student Leadership Conference, was responsible for creating a Leadership Education and Development (LEAD) program for emerging student leaders, as well as a community service-learning program that opened doors for students to participate in and learn about their community in a meaningful way.

Tank has been involved in volunteer service with multiple community organizations, including Autism Speaks, The Wayne Foundation (an anti-human trafficking organization), and The Fairfax County Child ID Program. He holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Catawba College and a master of science in sport studies from High Point University.

Please welcome Tank to his new role!
