Earlier this week, President Anne M. Kress was elected to the board of the American Council on Education, also known as ACE. As a member of the board, she will help guide the organization as it works to expand knowledge, equity and social progress for students at all types of U.S.-accredited, degree-granting institutions. Her term will run through March 2024.

“The American Council on Education is the leading national voice for colleges and universities,” Kress said. “I am honored to serve on the board as ACE works with its membership to advance the values of inclusion, excellence, innovation, collaboration and impact by providing critical resources, research and policy direction.”

During this week’s ACE business meeting, Michael Rao, president of Virginia Commonwealth University, was elected as board chair to replace Ronald Crutcher, president emeritus of University of Richmond, the previous chair.

Established in 1918, the American Council on Education is comprised of leaders from approximately 1,700 accredited colleges, universities and higher education associations and organizations. ACE conducts public policy advocacy, research and other initiatives related to higher education and offers leadership development programs for its members.

Located in Washington, D.C., the organization is headed by 42 board members from two- and four-year, public and private colleges and universities throughout the United States; 29 elected board members and 13 board members by designated higher Ed associations.
