December 13, 2021 / Faculty/Staff Highlights

The Loudoun Campus is excited to welcome Sheila Escobedo Zazueta as Campus and Community Relations Coordinator. She will be managing community outreach to target communities, assisting with event planning for internal and external events and coordinating campus communications.

Prior to joining the NOVA community, Sheila worked with the Executive Office of Mayor Muriel Bowser in Washington, D.C. where she led the national D.C. Statehood education and awareness campaign resulting in a historic U.S. House hearing and vote on the Washington, D.C. Admission Act (H.R. 51) in over 25 years alongside with the increase co-sponsorship and support for the Senate companion bill (S.51). She fostered relationships between community organizations, national and local elected officials and helped receive endorsement and support from the Biden Administration.

She also previously worked for the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), the nation’s oldest and largest civil rights organization, where she worked closely with Fortune 500 corporate executives to identify, cultivate and solicit stewardship giving for the historically marginalized Latino community throughout the nation and Puerto Rico.

Ms. Escobedo Zazueta received a Bachelor of Arts in Law and Society from American University and a Master of Professional Studies in Public Relations and Corporate Communications from Georgetown University.

Born in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico, and raised in Riverside, Cal., Sheila speaks fluent English and Spanish. She recently got married and relocated to Loudoun County.  She is looking forward to meeting her new colleagues across the college and service area.
