VCCS Faculty Awards Due to Awards Committee by Jan. 18

NOVA has some of the best faculty in the state! We would like to give you the recognition you deserve. VCCS Faculty Awards nominations are now open. Please consider submitting an application for yourself or a colleague to the NOVA Awards Committee for review. Please include all documents listed at AWARDS | VCCS Student Success Center, with the exception of letters of recommendation from the President, no later than Jan. 18 to academics@nvcc.edu. 

Awards and eligibility are:

Chancellor’s Award for Teaching Excellence (CATE): Must be an unrestricted full-time teaching faculty with 5 years of VCCS service which was at least 75% of a teaching workload.
George B. Vaughan Leadership Award for Outstanding Adjunct Faculty: Must be serving as an adjunct faculty at the time of application with a minimum of 2 years of service at NOVA. Service does not have to be continuous. Applicants’ adjunct teaching careers should reflect the excellence in leadership, teaching effectiveness and student service exemplified by Dr. Vaughan. 
Susan B. Wood Professorship for Teaching Excellence: Must be full-time faculty with five years of VCCS service preferred. Career should reflect a history of striving for excellence, commitment and dedication to students, creative and innovative approaches to teaching, active involvement in one’s discipline, demonstrating leadership and collegiality among peers (at the college, state and/or national levels) and reflecting continuous professional growth and development during their continuum of being a faculty member.

Additionally, the Excellence in Education Award (EIE) is also open with a deadline of Feb. 1, 2022 at 5 p.m. Since any VCCS employee or program/project may be nominated for this award, and a letter of support from the President is not required, NOVA employees are encouraged to submit the application directly to the VCCS: Excellence in Education (EIE) Awards Program | VCCS Student Success Center
