Nighthawks Win National Championship

December 17, 2021 / Our Nighthawks

NOVA’s Esports Rocket League team won the NJCAAE National Championship for the first time in program history, while the Valorant squad was the national runner-up last week.

The Nighthawks Rocket League team won six games in the best-of-seven series against Beltway rival Howard Community College. Roberto (TNT) Mejia scored the winning goal 41 seconds into the game six overtime.

NOVA’s Valorant team, meanwhile, was looking for its third consecutive NJCAAE National Championship, but Madison College came back to win 2-0. Brian (Bians Big Beefy) Craig was the Nighthawks offensive leader throughout the season and had several kills in the championship battle.

The 2022 esports spring season begins in January, as NOVA looks to bring home a fourth national championship.
