NOVA Online (NOL) Seeks Interim AVP, Express Interest by Dec. 20
The recent search for the Associate Vice President of eLearning did not result in identification of a candidate who met the needs of the College. Therefore, Academic Affairs is seeking an interim AVP until a new AVP is hired. This appointment will begin on January 1, 2022. The interim AVP must hold at least a master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution. In addition, the interim AVP must have experience teaching online and/or designing online courses and must understand the various regulations affecting online education. The interim AVP should have project management experience and three years of progressive administrative responsibility, including responsibility for personnel supervision and budget management.
The interim AVP will report to the Vice President of Academic Affairs and Chief Academic Officer. Acting pay, in accordance with VCCS policy, will be provided for the duration of this appointment.
NOVA employees who meet these qualifications, understand the requirements and wish to be considered for the role of interim AVP for eLearning should submit a one-page letter of interest to Robin Muse (rmuse@nvcc.edu) in the Academic Affairs Office no later than Monday, December 20 at Noon. Please include the subject line “Interim AVP for eLearning” in your email. The interim AVP will be selected and appointed by the Vice President and Chief Academic Officer from the pool of qualified individuals expressing interest.
The Office of Academic Affairs would like to recognize Dr. Preston Davis, who has been managing multiple roles since last summer and will complete his duties as the interim AVP at the end of December. At that time, Dr. Davis will resume his duties as Director of Faculty Professional Development, an area which will soon be expanded significantly and will require intense focus. We wish to express our sincere appreciation for Dr. Davis’ leadership during the past six months representing and leading NOL as the interim AVP.
Please Note: This announcement does not constitute or replace the full search for the next AVP for eLearning. A national search based on the complete EWP for this position will be conducted by NOVA during Spring 2022. The interim AVP is eligible to apply. The expectation is that the successful candidate in the national search will begin their appointment as AVP for eLearning no later than July 2022.
