Update on Spring 2022 Return

January 10, 2022 / Uncategorized

Dear NOVA Community, As we work our way through this snowy start to spring, I wanted to reach out to provide the January 7 update promised in my email to you on December 21.

NOVA will follow the return plan identified in the December 21 message:

  • Individuals in temporary telework status since January 3 will return on January 12.
  • In-person classes will begin on campus January 18 as scheduled.

Our college will also be taking two new measures related to COVID mitigation:

  • Employees working on campus will now be able to pick up a KN95 mask weekly from their campus Parking Office beginning January 12. As has been our practice for the past year, all individuals on campus—including students and visitors—will still have access to free multi-layer face coverings.
  • In addition to continuing the $250 COVID vaccination incentive for students begun in fall, NOVA will now provide an additional $75 incentive to students who receive the COVID booster. Beginning January 18, students who show their vaccination card at a NOVA Parking Office will receive the funds on their NOVA Card.

These steps complement our existing strategies of required face coverings, enhanced cleaning, improved ventilation, health information campaigns, and NOVA’s Contagious Diseases Policy. NOVA also continues to offer a robust schedule of remote and online courses for students seeking these modalities and to provide expanded virtual services to support both remote and on-campus students.

As a reminder, the majority of NOVA employees are eligible for eight hours of telework each week, a number of positions have been authorized for full teleworking, and our Telework Task Force will provide me with recommendations this February for any further expansion of telework opportunities.

I look forward to seeing you Monday, January 10, at our virtual Spring Convocation—please remember that all NOVA offices will be closed from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. to allow our entire community to participate in this event.

Thank you for your continued efforts to keep our community healthy and for your dedication to NOVA!

Sincerely,

Anne
