CDC, VDH Guidance on Quarantine and Isolation

January 13, 2022 / General NOVA News

We continue to monitor the impact of COVID-19 in our area while following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines as well as the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) guidelines, and we strongly encourage all employees to do the same.

If you have questions about quarantine and isolation, you may find helpful answers in this VDH flowchart. We will also publish another article tomorrow with additional context on NOVA’s procedures related to quarantine and isolation.

At this time, the Public Health Emergency Leave (PHEL) ended on January 9, 2022; therefore, employees who were otherwise eligible for PHEL will need to submit other leave options for time taken after January 9, 2022. If an employee needs to quarantine but does not have any symptoms preventing them from performing job functions, then temporary telework may be considered with approval from the supervisor and provost/vice president. NOVA HR is continuously developing guidance for supervisors to effectively manage employees who are teleworking. Specific questions about teleworking should be directed to employeerelations@nvcc.edu.

Please know that your health and safety continue to be a top priority. This remains a fluid situation, and we will continue to communicate any updates as they become available.

In the meantime, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at HRAdmin@nvcc.edu with any questions you may have.

Best wishes for a productive and healthy spring semester!
