January 31, 2022 / General NOVA News

Steven Partridge, VP of Strategy, Research and Workforce Innovation, is pleased to announce that NOVA’s Office of Institutional Effectiveness has been reorganized and is now named the Office of Strategic Insights (OSI). This organizational change goes into effect this January and is reflected on NOVA’s website at http://www.nvcc.edu/osi.

OSI aims to become the best in the nation at providing strategic insights and allows NOVA to peer into the future so we can provide students with the best educational experience and career opportunities. We will focus on student success and support NOVA’s mission, vision and strategic plan. OSI will empower partners throughout the college by providing access to timely and accurate analysis, assessment, reporting and planning as well as actionable insights informing institutional decision-making and leading to a competitive advantage.

“The Office of Strategic Insights is proud to support NOVA as part of the Division of Strategy, Research and Workforce Innovation,” said VP Steve Partridge. “OSI looks forward to aiding NOVA in using the College’s data to make informed, insightful decisions that support our students.”

OSI supports NOVA through four main areas:

  • Data Management and Decision Support
  • Labor Market Intelligence (LMI)
  • Planning and Assessment, and
  • Research/Insights.

Data Management and Decision Support includes state and federal reporting, handling of institutional data requests, preparation of the NOVA Fact Book and Fact Book data dashboards and NOVA’s data coaching program, Data Close to Practice.

LMI provides labor market data and analysis for the NOVA community, including career, employment and demographic data and dashboards, as well as workforce profiles and briefs.

Planning and Assessment conducts strategic planning, program review for academic programs and disciplines, core and student learning outcomes assessment and administrative and campus unit planning and evaluation–including helping NOVA prepare annual planning and evaluation reports (APERs) for administrative and campus units and instructional programs.

Finally, Research/Insights prepares scheduled reports and publications, conducts survey research and implements topical research projects, administers NOVA’s Institutional Review Board (IRB) and produces OSI’s infographics, research reports and briefs.
