Award Nomination, Session Proposal Deadlines Extended for VCCS Student Success Conf.

February 1, 2022 / Faculty/Staff Highlights

New Horizons, the VCCS Student Success Conference, began as a technology conference to help participants learn how to include new and innovative technology into classrooms. Over time, it evolved into the premier teaching and learning conference focused on student success. Through all the changes, the most valuable part of the event is being together and sharing our knowledge and experience.

This year’s New Horizons conference will be held at the Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center from April 6 through 8. All VCCS employees are invited to attend since student success involves everyone: faculty, staff, student services professionals, workforce professionals, administrators and leadership. The New Horizons conference is an opportunity to learn from one another, share ideas and seek inspiration.

New Horizons 2022 is just around the corner! We are looking forward to gathering once again in Roanoke to celebrate all we have accomplished since we were last together and learn from one another about how we can move forward. Award Nominations and Session Proposal deadlines have been extended to Feb. 15, at 5 p.m.

Awards Nominations
New Deadline: Feb.15 at 5 p.m.
The Student Success Center has worked diligently to streamline the application process for the awards.

The Excellence in Education awards are a nomination process so we encourage faculty and staff to nominate programs, projects, and individuals. Each category winner receives $500.

We also know we have not had the opportunity to recognize the excellent work of our faculty and adjuncts since we were last together. The CATE, Wood, and Vaughan awards all have monetary components so don’t leave it on the table! Recipients will be announced during the Awards Program on April 6.

Call for Session Proposals
New Deadline: Feb. 15 at 5 p.m.
During the last two years, the faculty and staff at our colleges have been involved in all sorts of innovative and creative work that improves student learning and success. We want to know about those things so we can learn from each other!

We are seeking panels, workshops, demonstrations and traditional presentations that highlight the ways knowledge, connection, inclusivity and collaboration are being built in the work in your classrooms and offices.
