NOVA Announces 2020-2021 Professors and Staff Emeriti

NOVA is pleased to announce the professor and classified staff emeritus recipients for 2020-2021. To be eligible to be nominated for emeritus status, an employee must have retired from NOVA on or before Nov. 19, 2021, after a minimum of five years full-time service to the College and a minimum of ten years of service in the VCCS and they must have made meritorious and significant contributions to the College and/or the VCCS. Generally, teaching faculty must hold the rank of Associate Professor or Professor.

Emeritus faculty and classified staff receive the following privileges:  A plaque acknowledging their emeritus stats; attendance as honored guests at the College Service Awards luncheon the year of their approval; full use of NOVA’s learning resources; faculty/staff parking privileges; emeritus ID card; emeritus business cards as requested; faculty/staff discount at College bookstores; access to NOVA email; listing in the college catalog; attendance at special events, concerts, presentations or lectures sponsored by the College and receipt of select College publications. In addition, holders of Professor Emeritus and Administrative/Professional Faculty Emeritus status may participate in the academic procession at Commencement and will march at the head of the faculty.

Nominees were approved by the NOVA College Board at the January meeting.
