Research: Investigating Instructor Feedback Practices
You are invited to participate in a research project, “Investigating Instructor Feedback Practices.” This study is a cross-institutional investigation of feedback beliefs and practices of full- and part-time faculty. The goal is to better support instructors as they experiment with different ways of providing meaningful feedback to students. This research study is affiliated with Elon University’s Center for Engaged Learning, and has been approved by NOVA’s Office of Institutional Research.
Why examine instructor feedback practices? Research shows that understanding instructor feedback practices is a continual challenge for higher education. High-quality feedback might be one of the strongest influences on students’ achievement (e.g. Hattie, & Timperley, 2007), but feedback “is often framed as the dimension of students’ experience with which they are least satisfied” (Winstone & Carless, 2020, p.5).
How can I participate? The survey is multiple-choice with a few short answer responses. The survey should take 10-15 minutes to complete. You can participate in the survey here: link to survey.
We hope to have responses by Friday, March 18. Contact Breana Bayraktar (BBayraktar@nvcc.edu) with questions.
