Academic Affairs Spring Training Series, March 14-25

Fall registration is right around the corner! As the 2022-2023 academic year approaches, there will be a number of important changes to NOVA curriculum, academic policies, transfer resources, and credit for prior learning, largely due to the Transfer Virginia initiative. In an effort to ensure faculty and staff have access to this information in a timely manner, the Office of Academic Affairs will be offering a Spring Training series. At these training sessions, we will present the latest information available and provide opportunities to answer your questions. A list of training sessions can be found below:  

Week #1: Academic Affairs Spring Training (March 14– 18)

Passport/Uniform Certificate of General Studies Overview
Tuesday, March 15 from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m.
Description: An overview of the Passport and Uniform Certificate of General Studies and how these initiatives are being implemented at NOVA.

2022-2023 Academic Program Changes
Wednesday, March 16 from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.
Description:  Review upcoming 2022-2023 academic year curricular changes at NOVA, including updates to degree programs and courses, as well as catalog and SIS programming availability.

Credit for Prior Learning & Credits2Careers Portal
Friday, March 18 from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m.
Description: Learn about statewide credit for prior learning initiatives based on work being done by Transfer VA and how this impacts NOVA.

Week #2: Academic Affairs Spring Training (March 21 – 25)

Direct Enrollment/Multiple Measures
Monday, March 21 from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m.
Description: Join Dean of English Jennifer Daniels and Dean of Mathematics Alison Thimblin to review the latest guidance on direct enrollment and multiple measures at NOVA.

Transfer Virginia Portal
Tuesday, March 22 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m.
Description: A demonstration on how to use the Transfer Virginia Portal, what resources are available now versus what’s coming soon, and guidance for how students can use the Portal.  

NOVA Academic Policy Updates
Wednesday, March 23 from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m.
Description: Updates on NOVA academic policies, such as our course repeat policy and reverse transfer policy.
