Eleven NOVA Students Selected as Semifinalists for 2022 JKC Undergrad Transfer Scholarship
Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) is extremely proud to announce that 11 NOVA Nighthawk students have been named semifinalists for the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation’s Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship. Through this prestigious award, the Foundation supports high-achieving community college students with a demonstrated financial need who are seeking to complete their bachelor’s degrees at selective four-year institutions.
This year’s 440 semifinalists were chosen from a nationwide pool of more than 1,200 applicants attending 180 community colleges in 35 states. NOVA students represent nearly two-thirds of Virginia semifinalists this year and in the past 13 years, 19 NOVA students have received the Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship.

The Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship provides funding for tuition, room and board, and required fees and books for the remainder (up to three years) of the scholar’s undergraduate degree. In addition to financial support, selected scholars will receive comprehensive educational advising from the Foundation to guide them through the process of transitioning to a four-year school and preparing for their careers. Undergraduate Transfer Scholars also receive opportunities for internships, study abroad and graduate school funding, and they are connected to a thriving network of nearly 3,000 fellow Cooke Scholars and Alumni.

The Cooke Foundation is dedicated to advancing the education of exceptionally promising students who have financial need. Since 2000, the Foundation has awarded $230 million in scholarships to nearly 3,000 students from 8th grade through graduate school, along with comprehensive counseling and other support services.
