Manassas to Host Pop-Up in Advance of Inaugural #NOVAGivingDay, March 24
On April 21, the NOVA Foundation will host its first ever Giving Day, a 24-hour fundraising challenge for all members of the #oneNOVA community. Students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, friends, family and the broader community are invited to participate in what the Foundation hopes will become NOVA’s biggest annual day of giving.
To build momentum toward Giving Day, the NOVA Foundation has partnered with NOVA’s Office of Student Life to sponsor both in-person and virtual pop-up events at each of NOVA’s six campuses, as well as two events hosted by NOVA Online. Each on-campus event will run from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. The NOVA Online times vary to allow an opportunity for evening students to participate.
#NOVAGivingDay Event dates and times are:
- Manassas, March 24th (11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.)
- Medical Education Campus, March 30th (11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.)
- Woodbridge, March 31st (11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.)
- NOVA ONLINE: March 18th (7:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.)
- NOVA ONLINE: March 23rd (12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.)
Kelly Persons, executive director of the NOVA Foundation, said, “NOVA Giving Day is a day fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. When you give on #NOVAGivingDay, you are joining the entire community in ensuring thr success of our Nighthawks. No matter the size, your gift changes lives. What will you do to support NOVA’s first Giving Day?”
Members of the #oneNOVA family are caring, and they support NOVA’s mission to provide a high-quality education for all. This challenge will rally the power of the #oneNOVA community to raise funds to ensure our students’ success.
NOVA Foundation Board member, Debi Alexander, is aware of the power of engagement. Alexander’s NOVA roots run deep. She is a proud alumna, and she is a member of a NOVA legacy family. Her mother, Natasha Drury, was one of the first ten professors to teach at NOVA after it was established in 1965. Debi’s son, Alex, is both an alumnus and a current student in the Data Center Operations program. Debi knows from experience how time at NOVA can differ from the perspective of a student, faculty member or an alum, and she understands what unites them all: a dedication to education and a love for community.
“As someone who has been connected to NOVA personally and professionally since it opened, I am proud to donate on giving day in honor of the professors and staff who are committed to providing an excellent education for our students,” said Alexander. “I hope everyone who has been touched by our mission donates. Any amount will lift-up our community.”
