Green Tip….Thursday!
Did you know that VCCS recently added a webpage to highlight VCCS sustainability efforts across the system. Initially conceived as an outgrowth of Executive Order 77 (related to waste reduction and elimination of single-use plastics), the VCCS team that was responding to DEQ’s data requests realized there were many efforts that people weren’t aware of, including NOVA’s Sustainability efforts.
On that note, in the larger context of environmental sustainability, here are some on-going and upcoming items of note:
- The DC Environmental Film Festival is happening now through March 27th – virtual tickets and the schedule are available here;
- Earth Hour is March 26, 2022 (8:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m., local);
- NOVA’s Green Festival is April 19th and 20th (more information here);
- Earth Day is April 22, 2022; and
- Arbor Day is on April 29, 2022.
These are all opportunities to learn about and recognize efforts to promote environmental efforts, energy and resource conservation, waste reduction, and pollution prevention and there are several opportunities to volunteer locally.
Stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks about local volunteer opportunities!
