Calling All Administrative Faculty!

March 25, 2022 / Faculty/Staff Highlights

The caucus is coming! The caucus is coming! The Administrative Faculty Caucus is coming!

What is the Administrative Faculty Caucus? In September 2021, the College senate resolved to create constituent groups “for the sole and exclusive purpose of providing information to the College Senate on issues of concern to the members of each respective group.”

What will the Administrative Faculty Caucus do? The caucus will discuss issues pertinent to the admin faculty, raise concerns of the admin faculty, communicate to the Senate and build community among the constituent group across the College.

Don’t the Administrative Faculty already have affinity groups? Some subsets of Administrative Faculty do have standing councils (e.g. Academic Deans, Deans of Student Success, Associate Deans, etc.). However, not all Administrative Faculty have affinity groups, and sometimes the existing affinity groups do not communicate effectively with each other.

Aren’t there very few Administrative Faculty? Not really. There are 125 of us: campus-based, College-based and at NOVA Online.

What do we do now? The Senate resolution calls for each caucus to elect officers.

What should I do? Nominate yourself or someone else (with their consent!) to serve as chair, vice-chair or secretary of the caucus. Please reply to this email with nominations by April 15.

What’s Next? We will hold online elections to establish caucus leadership that will guide the process going forward.

NOTE:  For purposes of College governance, associate deans are included with the administrative faculty.
