Capital Area Food Bank Delivers 1,000 lbs. of Food to Nighthawk Nest Food Pantries

March 29, 2022 / General NOVA News

On Friday, March 18, the first food delivery from the Capital Area Food Bank was received on the Annandale Campus for our Nighthawk Nest food pantries. The Office of Financial Stability and Advocacy, with the assistance of the Office of Student Life and our student ambassadors, helped transport 1,000 pounds of food from the delivery truck to its pantry locations. Enough food was received to help stock two of our Nighthawk Nest food pantries–the Annandale Campus pantry and the Medical Education Campus (MEC) food pantry!

Food items received included non-perishable items such as canned goods, boxed meals, cereals, shelf-stable milk, beans, rice and the list just goes on. Over 27 different food items were ordered and over 50 boxes were delivered. Now that the first delivery has officially taken place, Financial Stability and Advocacy is ready to put in the next order of food for our other campus food pantries.

The NOVA Nighthawk Nest food pantries are open to all who have a need for food. Food Pantry campus locations and times of operation are below. Please continue to share about our Nighthawk Nest food pantries to those who are in need food.
