Office of Strategic Insights Publishes Latest Issue of Data Spotlight Newsletter
NOVA’s Office of Strategic Insights (OSI) is pleased to announce the latest edition of its Data Spotlight newsletter (previously Spotlight). The new issue focuses on fall headcount enrollment of first-time to college (new) students. National data are presented for fall 2016 through fall 2020, the most recent five-year period for which data are available, and comparative NOVA data are also provided. Data are from the U.S. Department of Education’s Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS). Research studies that discuss national enrollment patterns at community colleges are also referenced. The remainder of the edition focuses on comparative enrollment trends at NOVA; at VCCS colleges and at public, four-year institutions in Virginia for the more recent period of fall 2017 through fall 2021. Data are from the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) and are disaggregated by gender and race/ethnicity. The latest issue of Data Spotlight provides the College community with a perspective about recent fall enrollment patterns of new students at NOVA and beyond. Please access current and prior editions of the newsletter here. We hope that you find the latest edition helpful.
Data Spotlight, a publication of NOVA’s Office of Strategic Insights, is a quarterly newsletter that makes institutional research easy to understand by presenting data regarding NOVA’s student achievement criteria, key performance indicators, regional labor market and other important metrics in a visual format.
In addition to providing key insights into the College and its role in the Northern Virginia region, Data Spotlight puts NOVA’s institutional data in a national context. Through text and graphics, Data Spotlight tells the story behind the data to help faculty and staff support student access and success, as well as to further NOVA’s Mission & Vision, Strategic Plan, and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Strategic Plan.
