Dr. Richmond Hill to Serve as Acting Woodbridge Provost
Today’s topic provides an update on the interim Woodbridge Provost.
I am pleased to announce that Dr. Richmond Hill, associate vice president for student support services, will serve as interim provost for the Woodbridge Campus beginning June 10, 2022. Dr. Hill will be working with Provost Sam Hill to ensure a smooth transition, and I again thank Provost Hill for his dedication to and outstanding leadership of the Woodbridge Campus over almost two decades and wish him the very best in retirement.
Many of you know Richmond Hill, who has held several roles at NOVA and the Woodbridge Campus during a career dedicated to education and to Prince William County. Before first joining NOVA in 2009, he held a variety of roles related to counseling services within the Prince William County Schools. He then served from 2009-2017 as a counselor, assistant professor and coordinator of student success at NOVA. Dr. Hill returned to Prince William County Public Schools for four years, leading student services programs before returning to NOVA in 2021 to take the AVP position.
Dr. Richmond Hill has been active in building and supporting community at NOVA and in Prince William County. For his work, he has been honored as the Virginia and Prince William School Counselor of the Year, as Man of the Year by Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and he has received the Prince William County Human Rights Commission Award. He holds an Ed.D. in higher education administration from George Washington University, an M.Ed. in counselor education and a B.A. in psychology and human development from North Carolina State University.
I thank Dr. Richmond Hill for taking on this important interim role and bringing his strong history of leadership at NOVA and in Prince William County to the position. I also extend my gratitude to all who submitted letters of interest for this opportunity. As our calls for internal interim appointments continue to demonstrate, our college benefits greatly from talented and dedicated leaders at every level.
As a reminder, NOVA has engaged Greenwood/Asher to assist in the search for the next Woodbridge Provost, and this search will begin in the fall, with the expectation that the next Provost will be named before the end of that semester.
