Between fall 2017 and fall 2021, the number of first-time in college students residing in Northern Virginia who enrolled at NOVA increased from 12,060 students to 17,588 students, an increase of 46 percent. During this time, the total number of students residing in Northern Virginia who enrolled at the College also increased, from 44,927 students to 46,000 students, an increase of 2 percent.

Between fall 2017 and fall 2021, the number of first-time in college students enrolled at NOVA who resided in areas of Virginia outside Northern Virginia increased from 336 students to 521 students, an increase of 55 percent. However, during this time, the total number of students enrolled at the College who resided in areas of Virginia outside Northern Virginia decreased from 3,088 students to 2,935 students, a decrease of 5 percent.

Between fall 2017 and fall 2021, the number of first-time in college, out-of-state students who enrolled at NOVA decreased from 658 students to 148 students, a decrease of 78 percent. During this time, the total number of out-of-state students who enrolled at the College also decreased, from 3,175 students to 625 students, a decrease of 80 percent.
