Amazon Web Services Employees Complete Engineering Operation Tech Training
On April 28, our 12-week 357-hour Engineering Operation Technician (EOT) contract training program concluded. This program was the fruit of collaboration between Amazon Web Services (AWS), Information Engineering Technologies (IET) and NOVA Workforce. The program started on February 7 at the Loudoun Campus (Signal Hill). The second half of the training was conducted at the wonderful facilities of the Manassas Campus (MTS-I). There were 29 students enrolled, and the training was provided by four dedicated instructors: Amir Mehmood, Zereyakob Lidi, Mike Hanssen and Dr. John Sound. The following courses were taught: A.C. and D.C. Fundamentals, Schematics and Mechanical Design, Intro to Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma, Data Center Engineering Operations, Electric Motor Control, Electrical Machines and Basic Mathematics.
The goal of this program was to introduce AWS employees to data center operations topics necessary to be productive employees. They furthered their knowledge and confidence with plenty of hands-on practice.
