COVID-19 REMOTE Act to Expire June 1: Veteran Students Should Contact Vet Svcs
The COVID-19 REMOTE Act, which lets veteran students receive their monthly housing allowance at the in-person rate while taking approved converted (online) courses, will expire after June 1 of this year.
When enrolling for courses held after June 1, 2022–or any subsequent term, veteran students will need to enroll in approved resident (in-person) classes to continue receiving their MHA at the in-person rate. Additionally, if a veteran student is enrolled in converted classes that continue past June 1, 2022 and have been receiving their MHA at the in-person rate due to COVID-19, their MHA will be reduced to the online/distance learning rate on June 2, 2022.
If veteran students using benefits have questions on how to select the appropriate class modalities for summer and fall 2022, they should contact Takesha McMiller, Office of Military Veteran Services at TAMcMiller@nvcc.edu or contact their campus military and veteran program advisor.
