NOVA’s DEI Council Seeks Five At-Large Members

June 30, 2022 / General NOVA News

Per guidance in NOVA’s approved DEI Inclusive Excellence Strategic Plan, NOVA’s DEI Council works in consultation with the CDEIO; the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and DEI Campus Committees to help organize DEI activities and provide feedback and recommendations about DEI-related matters to the CDEIO to present to Admin Council.

The five additional at-large members on DEI Council should be full-time NOVA employees (classified staff, professional faculty or administrative faculty) who do not work on a NOVA campus. Employees who work on a NOVA Campus have representation on DEI Council via DEI Campus Committee (specifically, the DEI campus committee co-chairs) that are chosen by each campus provost.

To ensure equity on NOVA’s DEI Council, five at-large members are needed for the upcoming year. Appointments to DEI Council come with a two-year term limit and DEI Council meets once a month.

If you have an interest in joining NOVA’s DEI Council as an at-large member, please send an email expressing your interest to Dr. Nathan Carter (nacarter@nvcc.edu), Chief Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Officer, no later than Tuesday July 12, 2022.

A formal announcement on the full membership of DEI Council membership will be released shortly after July 12, 2022.

The next DEI Council Meeting is scheduled for Friday July 29, 2022, 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. This meeting will be held virtually on Zoom.

If you have any questions please let me know and I look forward to hearing from you.
