Dr. Beatrice McKeithen to serve as Interim AVP for Student Support Services

I am pleased to announce that Dr. Beatrice McKeithen, dean of student success at the Medical Education Campus, will serve as interim AVP for student support services beginning August 8. This role was held by Dr. Richmond Hill before he transitioned into the role of interim provost of the Woodbridge Campus. The interim AVP for student support services will report to the vice president of EMSS and provide leadership and support to staff in Military and Veteran Services, Accommodations and Accessibility Services, Wellness and Mental Health, Financial Stability and Advocacy Center, CCAMPIS and other areas. 

Many of you know Dr. McKeithen for her role as dean of student success at the MEC. Over the past twenty-nine years at NOVA, she has served in various roles including as interim provost for MEC, dean of student success, dean of students, health careers opportunity program director and counselor. She brings extensive student services administrative, supervision and management experience to the role. Her professional degrees were earned in Human Development and Learning (B.A.), Masters of Education in Counseling (MAEd.) and her Doctorate of Education in Higher Education Administration, Educational Leadership (Ed.D.). Dr. McKeithen brings strong leadership in student support as demonstrated by her many years of service. It is clear she has the skills to support our students throughout their time at NOVA. I am pleased to welcome her to the EMSS team.

I extend my thanks to Dr. McKeithen for taking on this important interim role and bringing her strong history of leadership at NOVA to the position.

I also must express my appreciation to all who submitted letters of interest for this opportunity. Every application submitted showed strengths in student support as well as talented and dedicated leaders interested in supporting our students at every level.
