DEI Grant to Highlight Neurodiversity Kicks Off the Fall Semester!

August 11, 2022 / Events

During the fall 2022 semester, the NOVA community is encouraged to attend an informative series of events to learn more about neurodiversity. Neurodiversity is a natural variation in cognitive functioning. This variation in the structure of the brain manifests as many conditions including autism, ADHD, dyslexia, auditory or visual processing disorders, Tourette’s, traumatic brain injury and many others. The neurodiversity movement is a social movement that seeks civil rights, equality and inclusion for everyone.

We have a lot of information to share with the NOVA community, and we hope that you will join us to learn how we can support the neurodiverse individuals who study and work at NOVA.

Starting this week: NOVA students, staff and faculty can access selected movies on Kanopy. Kanopy provides many streaming video options for educators and is offered free through NOVA’s library. Get registered at kanopy.com and download the app to view! The movies we have selected to share with the NOVA community are “The Reason I Jump” and “Autism Goes to College.”
