August 15, 2022 / General NOVA News

NOVA’s senior leaders are as excited at the start of the academic year as their students! Below, read the comments from NOVA’s team of campus provosts as they express excitement and optimism at the start of a new year:

Dr. Nate Carter, Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer and Acting Provost, Alexandria Campus
I am excited to experience the brilliant, eager and diverse student perspectives this year! As CDEIO, I look forward to seeing the resurgence of diversity and equity programs across our college! From exciting DEI InNOVAtion grant projects to impactful DEI Spotlight events, the various ways we amplify diverse perspectives on our campuses makes me proud to be at NOVA!  Our future is strongly diverse and diversely strong!

Dr. Annette Haggray, Provost, Alexandria Campus (on leave)
I am excited about the future of NOVA because of the dedicated and talented faculty, administrators and staff who consistently help our students realize their hopes and dreams regardless of their backgrounds, life challenges and needs. I am looking forward to fall semester because it offers me an opportunity for renewal of my commitment to leading and supporting our faculty, administrators and staff in doing what we do best…teaching, learning, leading, encouraging and supporting our students and each other.

Dr. Richmond Hill, Acting Provost, Woodbridge Campus
I am excited about the multiple ways NOVA is connecting with our industry partners to spotlight our highly skilled and talented students to ensure they have access to good-paying jobs as students and after they graduate. I’m even more excited about seeing students in-person in the hallways and classrooms–they bring invigorating energy to our campuses.

Dr. Chad Knights, Provost, Information and Engineering Technology
We are so excited to see all of our students back for the fall. I look forward to seeing continued student achievement in the technology space, which has continued to grow across all our NOVA campuses!

Dr. Julie Leidig, Provost, Loudoun Campus
The diverse and motivated students of NOVA are always an inspiration to me. I love playing a part in building a positive future for them. Also, the renovated Reynolds Building at the Loudoun Campus is lovely, so it’s a joy to be working there again.

Dr. Molly Lynch, Provost, Manassas Campus
As a kid, I loved returning to school in the fall. That has not changed now that I am working at NOVA. We get a new group of students who challenge us to do better in helping them achieve their goals. I am always excited to see how NOVA faculty and staff rise to that challenge with innovative ideas.

Dr. Diane Mucci, Provost, Annandale Campus
I am very excited for the upcoming fall semester for many reasons. I am looking forward to having many students back on campus to engage in classes, student activities and to be part of the NOVA Nighthawk community. We have so much to offer for everyone, from certificates and degrees to workforce training, in different modalities and at different times of day to meet the needs of all of our students. It’s going to be wonderful year of rebuilding our community and our relationships and moving forward in a positive direction.

Dr. Shelly Powers, Provost, Medical Education Campus
What makes me excited about the future of NOVA is that we are currently a major contributor to the healthcare workforce and these contributions will grow exponentially in the future. What makes me excited about the future of NOVA this fall is the full return, in person, of faculty and students to our campuses. It is always a pleasure to greet faculty and students in person to see that “twinkle” in their eyes in anticipation of the new academic year!
