NOVA Online Hires New Quality Assurance Specialist

We’re pleased to announce that Dr. Josh Hite began as a new quality assurance specialist for NOVA Online (NOL) on August 25. Josh will work with Will Hatheway and Nillab Pazhwak in conducting online course reviews, training faculty for online teaching certification, resolving any student complaints and onboarding and mentoring new online faculty. Josh has a Ph.D. in English from Middle Tennessee State University, an M.A. in English from Tennessee Technological University and a B.A. in English/B.S. in Political Science from Tennessee Technological University. He has been an adjunct assistant professor of English for the Alexandria Campus/NOL for the past year. He also served as director of English and humanities at Hagerstown Community College and academic chair over four divisions at Volunteer State Community College in Livingston and Cookeville Tennessee. He has also worked as a professor of English at several other colleges. His experience in working with faculty, resolving complaints and faculty training will be a plus in this role. Josh has given many presentations on the topic of online teaching at national conventions, including “20 Practical Applications to Engage Students Online,” “No More Tumbleweeds: Reinventing the Online Discussion,” “Fostering Engagement in an Online Class” and “Why Do They Not Learn the Way We Teach Them?
