The Many Ways to Hear From NOVA’s President
Today’s topic is a reminder on where to find information from the President’s Office.
As we begin a new academic year, with a number of new faculty and staff, I want to refresh your memory on the four ways in which I share information with the college community.
First, there’s the weekly Tuesday Topic, which is archived through the Daily Flyer so you can easily find previous messages. For example, I received a couple anonymous questions this month about NOVA’s adoption of the VCCS Career Pathways: I wrote about this topic in April, and you can read the article here.
Second, there are the Zoom Monthly Office Hours. Because there’s never a perfect time for a collegewide conversation, these are always recorded with a notice posted in the Daily Flyer when they are archived. In each office hour, I address timely topics and respond to your questions. For example, here’s the recording from April 26, in which I address the academic restructuring discussion and VCCS Career Pathways (access passcode is GR%9DKNp).
Third, a standing source of information is the President’s Office Sharepoint Site. Here, you will find Administrative Council minutes, my responses to College Senate Resolutions and other reports, operational memos, the office hour links to and recordings of meetings and more. The site also includes links to forms to request my appearance at events or my recognition of an outstanding colleague or student. For example, my response to the recommendations from the Periodic Committee Structure Review are found on the Sharepoint site. Both documents are informing the College Senate’s work to identify standing committee and workgroup members.
Fourth, timely communication on urgent matters will be sent to you directly from PresidentsOffice@nvcc.edu. For example, on May 12, I sent an email to the college community linking to the just-released Virginia statewide telework policy and announcing a May 13 Zoom on this topic. In addition, you can always email me at this address with questions: if I don’t have the information you seek, I will connect you to the right person at NOVA.
I look forward to seeing you in this week’s Zoom Office Hours on Thursday at 1 p.m., and on our campuses throughout the fall, beginning with the Medical Education and Annandale Campuses on September 12.
