Manassas Campus Enjoys a Great Start to Fall 2022

September 14, 2022 / General NOVA News

Every August marks a significant time of great kick-off events for the fall. From convocations to welcome week programs and the re-engagement of students on campus, it’s an exhilarating time for all. While this certainly rings true for each campus, the faculty and staff at Manassas had a little something extra to look forward to this semester. Closing out their first week of classes, the campus held a faculty and staff family cookout on Friday, August 26.

Typically an annual event in the Spring, this was the first time the cookout has been held in almost four years, and it was a huge success. Sponsored by the Campus Social Committee, this event is a campus tradition, offering a casual afternoon for faculty and staff to step away from their offices and the demands of classes, to have fun, enjoy some great food, and a relaxing atmosphere to build comaraderie and have some friendly conversation. Faculty and staff from all areas of the campus were invited. Many came, along with their family members and friends, bringing a delicious array of potluck dishes to complement the main course of hot dogs, burgers and beans.

It was exciting to see so many people come out and enjoy themselves. Even those who could only break away briefly to grab a bite seemed grateful for the opportunity and
experience. “I think we’re off to a great semester start”, said Provost Lynch.
