NOVA Libraries New Research Skill-Building Tutorial Series
This fall the NOVA Libraries have a new series of tutorials to help students brush up on their research skills. The Skill-Building Series will include three videos each month that address specific library skills needed to write a paper.
The September series is now available and focuses on choosing a paper topic and developing a search strategy. The topics covered include:
- Choosing a Paper Topic
- Developing a Search Strategy: Choosing Keywords
- Developing a Search Strategy: Choosing Where to Start Searching
Each lesson builds off the skills developed in the last so that students can build their skills as they progress through the series as well as make connections between individual skills.
The full playlist can be accessed here, or on the Video Tutorial LibGuide can be found here. Library tutorials are an excellent resource to provide “just-in-time” instruction for students who may need to brush up on fundamental research skills. They can be integrated into your canvas course or your course Research Guide. For more information, or to request videos on specific topics contact Christina Wray at cwray@nvcc.edu.
