Last DEI Innovation Grant Workshop: Global Competence Assessment, Oct. 7

September 28, 2022 / Faculty/Staff Highlights

NOVA Online, in collaboration with the Office of International Education and Sponsored Programs (OIESP), will offer the last session of the DEI Innovation Grant workshop series via Zoom from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 7. Funded by the Office of DEI and the NOVA Foundation, this workshop series is intended to help faculty connect and engage all students in learning.

After introducing global competence to create inclusive learning environments and exploring instructional strategies to integrate global components into your course, this final  workshop in the series will focus on global competence assessment. Faculty participants will learn ways to assess global competence skills in a real-world context and explore tools and resources to use in teaching. This session will conclude with a wrap-up for the workshop series and a very helpful resource that you do not want to miss. If you missed one or all the first three workshops, you are still welcome to attend as each workshop of the series has a different focus. The first 60 faculty attending all four workshops will receive a free book about culturally responsive teaching!

Check out this flyer for more information about the workshop and the presenter, Heather Singmaster from Digital Promise Global. Please register here to receive a Zoom link to attend the workshop. Questions or requests for accommodations? Please email Hong Wang at hwang@nvcc.edu with questions.
