Questioning the Cardinal Email You Received? Here’s What It Means.
On Tuesday, Sep 27 at around 3 p.m., the VCCS sent an email to all faculty and staff stating that your MyNOVA email address (xxxx@email.vccs.edu) requested to automatically forward mail to your NVCC (xxxx@nvcc.edu) email (see example below). This is part of the VCCS’ transition to the new Human Capital Management (HCM) system called Cardinal. This system will replace the Virginia Department of Accounts’ (DOA) Payline system, which handles your payroll information, earning statements (pay stubs), and withholdings (W-2).
Cardinal will only send emails to your MyNOVA email address. In order to forward these emails to your NVCC email address, you must first confirm the email forwarding by clicking the Google link within the email. This is completely optional but, in order to receive emails from this new system in your NVCC email, you will need to click the Google link and confirm the email forwarding. Once you click the link, you will be sent to a Gmail confirmation page. Click the “Confirm” button and the process is complete.
The VCCS will only forward emails from the Cardinal system. No other emails sent to your MyNOVA email will be forwarded.
If you do not wish to forward the emails from the Cardinal system, you can ignore the email. The emails will only go to your MyNOVA email address.
Please contact the IT Help Desk if you have any questions.
Here is a truncated example of the VCCS email:

If you have any questions about the switch to Cardinal, contact the IT Help Desk, at ithelpdesk@nvcc.edu or call 703-426-4141.
